What's the Best Way to Build a Writing Habit?

We give ourselves a lot of reasons not to write.
A day off. A break. A problem that needs to be fixed. Too much to do.
They are all excuses we coddle.
We do this even though we know daily habits will inspire our creativity and force us to take more risks.
When this problem happens, the answer just might be in the problem.
Get the computer or pen/paper and ask yourself this:
Why don’t I want to write?
Then write about it for half a page, or some other small amount you set.
At first you might write the excuse.
And then you just might write the truth.
At the least of it, you’ve written something important today.
Congratulations.
